Let's meet at a tree...
Founded in Yarmouth, Maine, Frank Knight Foundation ignites the scientific, spiritual, and societal aspects of learning about trees in the town where people live. We create accessible and affordable opportunities to appreciate trees in our community.

Our Values:
Availability
Often forestry and environmental education occur outside of the immediate areas where people live, creating a disconnect between an appreciation for nature and local neighborhoods and communities. Frank Knight Foundation promotes sharing information about local tree species on sidewalks, parks, and places of daily activity. Accessible and understandable information close to the daily lives of residents provides the chance for all members of the community to develop individual relationships with their local trees.
Familiarity
Our goal is to increase the frequency of everyday encounters between people and trees, creating more opportunities for observation and incorporation into the community. Our efforts make it possible for individuals to meet these trees and become familiar with them on their own terms.
Ownership
Frank Knight Foundation believes that our society will benefit when people of all ages are more aware of different types of trees and the many roles they serve in nature. Knowledge of trees creates appreciation and a relationship with natural surroundings that would make communities more apt to plant, protect, and advocate for the presence of trees in their residential areas and beyond.
